A little History of the 5th RCT and the IW
The Ice wolves started out as a lance commanded by Hpt.  Strife, during the time of GameStorm's MPBT Solaris.  The original name for the lance was the "Whispers".  It was Strife that came up with the new name for the youngest lance in the 5th Regimental Combat Team.  The only three members of the Lance were Strife as the LCO,  ~Blizzard~ as the LXO, and LM Timber.   ~Blizzard~ took a leave of absents and Strife and Timber worked daily on tactics, maneuvers and strategy.  With EA planning to start it's beta testing of MPBT 3025 GameStorm closed its doors.

Strife and Timber moved to the new Year with high hopes of taking over the InnerSphere.  What they entered was Chaos.  With many players coming over from MW4 and plenty of newbies, a mass recruiting process was undertook.  ShadowBear, RCO for the 5th RCT, gave Strife command of Bravo Company,  After offering the position of CXO to ~Blizzard~, to which he turned down, Strife offered the post to Timber.  The Ice Wolves name went from Lance to Company name.  Strife only held the position of CCO for a short time before ShadowBear step down to take a post at House Command.  Timber held on to his rank and Acted as CCO till Strife promoted him to Huptmann and Company Commander to Bravo Company "ICE WOLVES".  The ICE WOLVES are now a new and young Company with many new warriors however these warriors will one day lead the house it to great victory.  For they are the most dedicated group of pilots in the House.

The 5thLC RCT was dedicated to the former SLDF 25th Heavy Assault Regiment. The 25th was destroyed on Trolloc Prime in a 5 day battle with Kurita Forces. They refused an order to retreat and made a stand by that planets capitol. The 25th's sacrifice allowed LCAF forces to withdraw while they slowed the Kurita Attack. It was the 1st unit casualty in the 1st Succession war right after Kerensky's Exodus into the Periphery with the bulk of the SLDF's Ships and Divisions.

The 25th Heavy Assault Regiment forms one of the Legends of House Steiner. The legend is that many a LCAF soldier has seen one of the 25th Warrior Ghosts before going on a mission against Kurita. Not one unit has failed a mission after seeing a ghost of the 25th.

The 5thLCRCT's unit insignia includes the 25th's insignia. The LC RCT's were formed as part of the Steiner/Davion integration study of 3022-3025. They are a light version of the Davion RCT. Rather than multiple regiments or different units , the RCT's are one mech regiment with Battalions of other units attached that make them smaller and more deployable.
The 5RCT was the 30LG, but changed name and theater in preparation for MPBT: 3025. At this time the Regimental Commanding Officer was Col. Ironlord. After a little work we got situated into our new position and name and started to make the best of it. Active lancing while having fun was always our primary goal. We had some extremely dedicated people who would one day come to lead the regiment.

After Col. Ironlord stepped down as RCO his Executive Officer, LtCol. HellSpawn, took over as RCO. At this point in time the 5RCT was in a slump with a lack of manpower and only six people considered active. Our sister unit, the 5LR, was also having a problem with lack of attendance. The leaders of both the 5RCT and 5LR decided to merge to create a new 5RCT. While the people of the two units were still getting to know each other and how to lance with one another, they entered the fourth season of the Solaris Lance League under the name of Ghost Legion. This team went against all the odds and became one of the four remaining teams out of 20+, and was only defeated by a score of three-to-four in the Conference Finals.

Since then the members of the 5RCT have been strong defenders of the LCAF, and have received several awards for such achievements, even a special commendation from Archon von Richtor.

The current Regimental Commander is Col. Monk with LtCol. Shadow as his Executive Officer and Hauptmann-Kommandant ShadowBear as his Battalion Commander.
